IT Support for Businesses That Actually Have Something to Lose

Most small businesses don’t think of themselves as a target. A law office with client files, a firm holding Social Security numbers for background checks, a practice with medical records on the network — none of them feel like “the kind of business that gets hacked.” That feeling is exactly what makes them one.

We work with businesses across the Philadelphia region — South Jersey through the western Pennsylvania suburbs — that handle information they can’t afford to lose control of: client confidentiality, personally identifiable information, records covered by industry compliance rules. The IT support that’s normal for a five-person retail shop isn’t enough here, and treating it the same way is how gaps stay open for months without anyone noticing.

What “managed IT” actually means for a firm like this

Monitoring that answers the right question. A lot of monitoring just checks whether a server responds to a ping. That tells you almost nothing about whether your email is authenticated against spoofing, whether a workstation actually has behavioral threat detection running, or whether your Microsoft 365 tenant is configured the way your compliance obligations assume it is. We monitor for the things that actually matter to a firm handling sensitive data, not just uptime.

Email authentication, actually done. Wire fraud against small firms usually starts with a spoofed email that looks like it came from inside the company — a login request, a payment change, an invoice from “your own” domain that isn’t really from you. The fix for this isn’t expensive or complicated, but it’s genuinely common to find firms that have never had it properly configured at all, sometimes for years, without anyone catching it. We check this on day one, not eventually.

Real endpoint protection, not just antivirus. Traditional antivirus catches known threats. Behavioral detection (EDR) catches the stuff that doesn’t match a known signature — which is most of what actually gets through today. If your firm handles PII and doesn’t have this running, that’s a real, current gap, not a nice-to-have.

Backups you can actually restore from. A backup that’s never been tested is a hope, not a plan. We verify restorability, not just that a job ran green last night.

Security posture you can actually see. Microsoft 365’s own Secure Score is a real, checkable number — and a lot of firms are sitting well below where they should be without knowing it, simply because nobody’s ever walked through what the score is actually measuring or why it matters for a firm their size.

None of this is a vague promise — every environment we manage has to meet a documented minimum technical standard, the same one we hold ourselves to.

Who this is for

Small law firms, PI and investigative firms, healthcare-adjacent practices, financial and consulting offices — 5 to 30 people, an owner or managing partner making the call, currently either doing break-fix support or working with an MSP that treats them like every other client regardless of what they actually handle.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell a bigger package than you need. A lot of what’s above is about closing specific, real gaps — not upselling a bundle. If a free network assessment turns up that you’re in decent shape, we’ll tell you that.
